|Nordural Century Aluminium has awarded VHE a major contract in the rodding plant at Nordural‘s Grundartangi, Iceland aluminium smelter.
VHE will provide a customised solution comprising a collar forming machine, a collar filling machine, paste filling units, conveyor belts, refurbishment of the overhead power and free conveyor, and supporting equipment. “This is one project in Nordural‘s five year investment plan which aims to improve productivity, streamline operations, and increase production by fifty thousand tonnes of aluminium metal per year. The total cost of the project will be in excess of ten billion Icelandic kronur. In addition to this extensive renovation of the rodding shop in co-operation with VHE, the major part of the investment project is in the substation and the use of larger anodes,” said Gunnar Gudlaugsson, General Director of Nordural.
For over 40 years VHE has designed, fabricated and serviced equipment for heavy industry both in Iceland and overseas. Machinery and equipment designed by VHE is used in more than 30 countries.
“We are extremely proud that Nordural Century Aluminum has selected us as a partner. It is a great honour for our team to have the trust demonstrated by this project, and no less important for the company as a whole. We have previously designed, fabricated and installed equipment for Nordural and the co-operation has been very successful. We look forward to undertake new projects for Century Aluminum,” said Unnar Steinn Hjaltason, Managing Director of VHE.
